WeComply, Inc., a leader in online ethics and compliance training for employees, has created a short animated video entitled “Guidelines for Politics in the Workplace.” The video is intended to raise employee awareness about expressing their political views at work – an especially important issue during an election year.
“Guidelines for Politics in the Workplace” outlines, in a succinct and engaging way, expectations for employee behavior with regard to political activities in the workplace. One key message presented in the video is the distinction that employees may be involved in political activities as private citizens but not as representatives of their organization. In addition, employees are instructed not to participate in political activities during paid work time and are told not to use their organization's resources for political purposes. The video also instructs employees not to attempt to coerce co-workers into making political contributions or to offend them with inappropriate political messages.
“Guidelines for Politics in the Workplace” is part of a weekly series of ethics and compliance animations published on WeComply’s YouTube Channel. The videos can be embedded in WeComply’s full-length and Refresher courses or viewed on their own.
“This short video uses animation to engage employees in a fun way,” said Mike Pallatta, WeComply CEO. “It informs or reminds employees of their organization’s expectations regarding political activities in the workplace, which is particularly important as political issues receive increasing focus in the run-up to the Presidential election.”
