WeComply, Inc., a leader in web-based ethics and compliance training for employees, has announced a new Preventing Sexual Misconduct (Title IX) course. Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits sexual violence and harassment in educational programs that receive federal funds. This 30-minute course targets higher-ed faculty and staff and explains the special responsibilities they have under Title IX to maintain a respectful educational environment.

The Preventing Sexual Misconduct course begins with a summary of the reasons for concern about sexual misconduct on campuses and an overview of anti-harassment laws and policies. The course addresses sexual violence, other types of sexual harassment and conduct to be avoided on campus and at school-related activities. The course also covers reporting sexual harassment, responding to complaints and avoiding retaliation.

In addition to the course for faculty and staff, WeComply has published a 3-minute companion video to educate students on their rights under Title IX. Accessible from laptop computers, tablets and smartphones, this animated video is designed to reach and engage college students.

“The recent crackdown by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights on Title IX compliance and the Office’s subsequent ‘reminder’ letters have schools looking for ways to meet these requirements,” said Mike Pallatta, WeComply CEO. “Our Preventing Sexual Misconduct course provides necessary training that will better allow schools to meet their Title IX responsibilities.”
