Home Learning College, the UK's largest provider of distance learning courses, is pleased to be one of the first providers of the new CompTIA Strata course in the UK, offering an entry-level foundation qualification for those interested in a career in ICT.
CompTIA Strata educates students as to the basic operation and management of PC's. It has two certifications, covering the fundamentals of both PC functionality (such as setting up a workstation, installing software and virus control) and those of technology, with a focus on compatibility and maintenance.
The course is recognised by the Sector Skills Council e-skills and fulfil ITQ Level 1, meaning that existing and future employers can be reassured by the professional credibility of the qualification. Students who complete the qualification and who have been inspired by what they have learnt will be in a strong position to consider tackling subsequent CompTIA courses - such as CompTIA A and CompTIA Network - gaining a complete suite of qualifications recognised by companies such as Microsoft, Cisco and 3Com.
Matthew Poyiadgi, of CompTIA comments that, "We have had a long and highly successful relationship with Home Learning College and are delighted that they are amongst the first of our partners to offer this new course. We know that they will offer their usual level of exemplary service and support to anyone hoping to achieve the qualification.
"Home Learning College is rightly seen as a leader in the field of distance learning, and its professional, personal and creative approach means we know our courses are in safe hands."
No previous qualification or experience of IT is required to start the CompTIA Strata course and students are supplied with all course materials prior to starting their studies. The freedom and flexibility offered by Home Learning College also means that students can learn at their own pace around existing professional or personal commitments. They are supported throughout by a personal Tutor, available at any time via phone or email, detailed course materials and the other 65,000 members of the Home Learning College Virtual learning Community.
Dave Snow, Home Learning College's Director of Studies commented "CompTIA Strata is designed for those at the bottom of the proficiency pyramid to get them interested in a career in IT, providing them with the vital skills they will need to compete in today's competitive jobs market. As it is 'vendor neutral' - meaning that it does not focus on specific applications or products - they will receive an independent introduction to ICT and get a clear picture of how to progress.
"The flexibility that being able to study for the qualification at home at their own pace fits the modular structure of CompTIA Strata perfectly."
