IT trainers See Accreditation 'Kite-mark' as Huge Success

The launch of an accreditation programme to help those looking for quality IT training has been hailed as a great success in its first two years of existence, according to one of the country's leading IT training providers, Computeach.

Birmingham, West Midlands (PRWEB) May 21, 2009 -- The launch of an accreditation programme to help those looking for quality computer training has been hailed as a great success in its first two years of existence, according to one of the country's leading IT training providers, Computeach.

The accreditation from the Institute of IT Training (IITT) was initiated in 2007 with the sole purpose of providing clearer guidelines as to the quality of training offered by IT training suppliers. The programme had been the direct result of industry pressure to make it easier for people looking for IT training to select providers 'of repute'. Computeach, one of the country's largest IT training providers and a founder member of the organisation, hailed the scheme as giving the public clear guidance when searching for quality IT training.

"The trouble that many people had initially was that there were so many different organisations offering their own version of computer courses that it was difficult for students to make an informed choice and select the most appropriate training for their requirements," explains Computeach's managing director Karl Parkinson.

The IITT introduced a method of categorising training organisations and award the prestigious kite-mark to those that meet all the criteria. The criteria include the method of training delivery, the quality of training and external factors such as the organisation's willingness to offer support to students after they had completed their training and were looking at entering the IT jobs market.

The IITT introduced guidelines concerning individual certification, corporate and vendor accreditation, development and maintenance of training standards and professional development.

"The whole basis behind the idea is to give the public a level of confidence when dealing with training organisations such as ourselves," says Karl. "By introducing a uniform level of standards that is clearly identified by the kite-mark, students can be assured that they are dealing with a reputable organisation with the skills, experience and quality standards to provide them with the best IT training available," he continues.

As IT became more popular as a potential career move, a plethora of training organisations sprang up to service the market - not all of them with the same high standards as major organisations such as Computeach. "The problem was that people didn't know who was offering quality, accredited training and who wasn't," Karl explains. "The accreditation programme makes it clear to students which provider offers quality assurance and value for money," he concludes.

Computeach is as committed to the quality kite-mark as ever. "We have decided to take a lead in terms of cost. Some training providers still sell long-term contracts, expecting customers to pay all fees in advance. We have decided to reduce our contract term to 12 months and fees have therefore reduced significantly," he concludes.

The IITT scheme has been deemed a resounding success and will continue to represent IT training providers that are considered to be quality providers of all forms of IT training.
