The average cost of a new computer is something that is tough to pinpoint exactly. However, a recent study by ComputerTooSlow.com has shown that the average person will spend around $650 on a new PC. This study did not count any type of server sales, netbook sales, or business computer purchases.

This price of $650 makes sense since a new computer can be found for as little as $250, but can also go all the way into the thousands of dollars.

In this study, ComputerTooSlow.com also found that the average cost of a Mac computer was much higher. The study showed that Mac users spent an average of $1050 on a new computer. Apple doesn't offer many low-end choices when it comes to their computer selection. This lack of entry level computers really drove the average price of a Mac up in the poll.

Based on this study, ComputerTooSlow.com concludes that it is worth some effort to improve the performance of a PC before buying a new PC. A few simple hardware and software upgrades could be purchased for $100 or less. This would be much more cost effective than buying a new computer at the average price of $650.
