CONSOR Intellectual Asset Management is pleased to announce partnership with Keith Mallinson, founder of WiseHarbor. “CONSOR provides a full array of intellectual property and intangible asset support services, and Keith's experience in the communications arena will strengthen our full suite of IP services,” said Doug Bania, Principal at CONSOR.

Communications technologies and services are increasingly rich in IP. Commercial licensing negotiations, mergers and acquisitions, tax assessments and litigation frequently require independent valuations of intangible assets, including patents and software. Some patented IP is essential to implement IT and communications standards. Other IP is commercially desirable, for example, in producing sophisticated devices such as smartphones.

Keith Mallinson has 25 years of accomplishments in the communications industries as an analyst, consultant and testifying expert witness. His commercial responsibilities and thought leadership domain throughout this period have included the technology and services businesses in wired and wireless telecommunications, media and entertainment.

He is founder of WiseHarbor, providing expert commercial advisory services since 2007. He is also a regular columnist with Wireless Week magazine and FierceWireless.

Mallinson specializes in commercial issues affecting the communications sector with emphasis on business opportunity and company valuation assessments in his consulting and expert witness engagements. His extensive experience is with a variety of analytical techniques including market comparable pricing and discounted cash flow analysis. Various forms of intellectual property rights, including copyrighted software and patented IPR for technologies such as those used to implement mobile communications standards, are increasingly significant in his work. He has testified on behalf of a variety of industry clients, including all the leading US wireless carriers. He has also been engaged by Fortune 100 technology vendors, including direct relationships with General Counsel and through outside counsel at many of the top international law firms. He has a pristine track record as an expert witness.

Mallinson’s former employer was telecommunications industry analyst firm Yankee Group, where he was Executive Vice President for research and consulting until 2006. His 15 years there included a wide variety of responsibilities and successes. In the role of managing director of the firm’s London office throughout the latter half of the 1990s, he drove record growth for the company’s European region with responsibility for all operations, including research, consulting, sales and events. Upon his relocation to the firm’s Boston headquarters in 2001, he demonstrated his versatility with the addition of global Wireless/Mobile research responsibilities and leadership of the company’s consumer Internet, media and entertainment programs.

Mallinson started his career in military communications design and project management with the UK Ministry of Defense. Prior to studying for his MBA, he worked as a minicomputer systems engineer for electronic security company Cardkey Systems. For several years, he served as a director at a seed capital investment firm specializing in biotechnology as well as information and communication technologies.

Mallinson has an undergraduate electronic engineering degree from London University's Imperial College and an MBA from the London Business School, including a scholarship for an academic exchange with Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management in Illinois.

CONSOR is pleased to have him as part of our team of experts.
