Vancouver Career College is now offering its Construction Electrician Level 1 program at its Burnaby campus. Interesting candidates are invited to attend an open house on July 20, 2011 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm to learn more about the program.

With many baby boomers getting ready to retire, employment opportunities for workers with the right skills continue to grow. For those looking to enter an electrical apprenticeship with the knowledge they need to succeed, the Construction Electrician training program could be the right place to start.

With this 10-week program, students will gain a well-rounded education in electrical tasks on a construction job site and be ready to work as an electrical apprentice. They will learn about electrical circuit concepts, rigging techniques and will ensure that all electrical connections are safe and meet standards set by the electrical code.

"Students gain first-hand knowledge and experience from 30-plus years in the construction industry. They will be prepared to walk on to a worksite with the confidence and the applicable skills to get the job done," said Dave Boyd, a trades instructor at Vancouver Career College.

Electricians enjoy challenging, varied assignments, and flexible working hours. They can find great jobs as contractors, maintenance workers in hospitals or industrial plants, or they may be self-employed.

The open house in Burnaby on July 20, 2011 is specifically designed for students already employed in the electrical field and looking to gain an electrical apprenticeship.
