This new Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement Leadership was designed in conjunction with an advisory group of current law enforcement professionals from across California
Pleasant Hill, CA (PRWEB) December 29, 2011
John F. Kennedy University is launching a new online undergraduate program that will prepare adult students to be successful in entering or advancing in the law enforcement or security field.
“This new Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement Leadership was designed in conjunction with an advisory group of current law enforcement professionals from across California,” explained Dr. Michael Graney-Mulholland, Dean of JFK University’s College of Undergraduate Studies. “We went straight to the experts, the people in the law enforcement jobs and in the trenches, for a critical understanding of what is needed to successfully serve in this profession.”
Chuck Culpepper, Jr., Chair of the Law Enforcement Leadership program, is a retired police officer who has extensive experience in private investigations and has worked with the State of California as a consultant conducting security officer certification and training.
“We have brought together courses in business, management, law, and public administration to not only prepare individuals interested in careers in law enforcement at the federal, state, or local levels, but also for positions as administrators of community, non-profit and other institutional programs related to social justice and community development, as well as executive positions in corporate security,” said Culpepper.
Another unique aspect of the bachelor’s degree completion program is that students can earn up to 30 quarter units of undergraduate credit for knowledge gained through work experience and training already received in the law enforcement or related field.
“Another feature of this program is that students who decide to continue and earn an advanced degree can leverage their work in the bachelor’s courses toward completing a master’s degree at an accelerated pace,” added Graney-Mulholland. The Law Enforcement Leadership degree is a particularly good foundation for a Master in Business Administration.
Applications are now being accepted for winter quarter starting in January, as well as spring quarter which starts in April.
Individuals interested in the program are invited to attend an open house at JFK University’s Pleasant Hill campus (100 Ellinwood Way) on Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Attendees will learn about the distinctive graduate and undergraduate degree and certificate programs offered at JFK University. Specific breakout sessions with faculty and staff will focus on particular program curriculum and application requirements.
