The City of Ottawa's Social Services Building, located at 370 Catherine Street, is receiving a modernized interior design and is being built by Ottawa Commercial Contractors Ltd. The three-storey, 67,000-square-foot building has been scheduled for a complete fitup and interior renovation on ground level and lower floors, with Commercial Contractors already at work. The building was originally constructed in 1964, and was last renovated in 1988.
This project, due to be completed this March, is part of a large three-phase commercial renovations and interior fitup project awarded to Ottawa Commercial Contractors Ltd. last December by the city of Ottawa.
The wide-ranging improvements will include the following commercial renovations:
- demolition of unnecessary partitions and floor space to open up the interior
- improvements to the building's mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
- rough-ins for new mechanical and HVAC systems
- installation of modernised security and fire protection systems
- replacement of doors and window framings with a new, customised look
