Eric “Coptic” Matlock was born and raised in Ghana, West Africa. As a child, he played the base drum for a local band in Newtown, which gave him a love for creating music. Soon after migrating to the U.S. at 13 years old, he began producing music.

To date, Coptic has produced records for corporations like Nike and artists including The Notorious B.I.G, P. Diddy, Snoop Dogg, Usher, Jermaine Dupri, Ma$e, KRS-One, Shyne and countless others. He has produced several platinum hits including “I Need A Girl” with P.Diddy, Usher and Loon as well as Notorious B.I.G’s “If I Should Die B4 I Wake.” Coptic has won numerous awards from Billboard BMI Urban, BMI POP, and more.

In an effort to share his production knowledge and connections with his native country, Coptic plans to start his record label “The Black Star Line” in Ghana. He is currently in negotiations to sign some of Ghana’s top artists and has recently, produced music for Sarkodie, Samini, D-Black and others. He is also in the recording stages of Kwaw Kese’s new album “Forever.”

“The Rising Stars of Ghana Vol. 1" is now available for download and streaming. The mixtape features new Ghanaian artists on the rise who need more exposure. Coptic plans on making the mixtape series an annual tradition.
