National Window Covering Safety Month
Phoenix, AZ (Vocus) October 9, 2009
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Window Covering Safety Council has declared October "National Window Covering Safety Month" and recommends replacing any window coverings purchased prior to 2001. In honor of this effort, Blinds Chalet is offering a discount on orders that include cordless window blinds.
"We would like to help bring attention to the campaign because unfortunately, there is proof that this is a real issue," says Chris Stanley of Blinds Chalet. "Children die each year. There are so many things that parents do to childproof a home and we want to make sure that addressing any dangling cords from window blinds, drapes, and any other home furnishings are added to the list."
Through BlindsChalet.com, all orders will receive 30% off and for orders over $350 that include at least one cordless product, the customer will receive an additional $20 off.
Blinds Chalet has long been a proponent of window safety awareness and continually seeks to educate consumers on the dangers of dangling cords and children. With 175 infant deaths since 1991 (Business Wire) and at least one child each month, "Education is key," says Stanley.
National Window Covering Safety Month is a nationwide campaign, co-sponsored by the Window Covering Safety Council (WCSC) and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to increase awareness of the potential hazards of dangling window blinds cords.
