Braintree, MA (Vocus) November 18, 2009
Volkswagen South Africa has received this year’s prestigious environmental award from the Eastern Cape Region (South Africa) Chamber of Commerce for its efforts in reducing corrosion protective oil coatings and carbon emissions through the use of Intercept Technology Packaging. Liberty Packaging, located in Braintree, MA, is the East Coast US Dealer of Intercept Technology Packaging.
Besides manufacturing automobiles for the European market, VW South Africa is one of the major automobile parts and engine block manufacturers for automotive manufacturers. They export to plants all across the world. In the past, VW has used oil coatings to protect parts. Instead, using Intercept Technology Packaging,
VW SA saves on the use of oils, clean up, disposal, and avoids carbon emissions. The savings were proven during the process of implementation and further savings is anticipated in plants receiving these Intercept-wrapped engines and blocks. Proving that “Green” can be cost effective, substantial savings in the total manufacturing cost was achieved, which will lead to changes in the production process and allow for further cost savings for the world’s leading auto manufacturer, Volkswagen.
This is not the first time Intercept Technology packaging has won an environmental award. In 2005 Intercept received an award from The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Labor (BMWA). Reactive Intercept packaging prevents corrosion, static, and fungus, allowing progressive companies like VW to protect their products and inventories with a safe, clean material.
