Colorado's largest Christmas tree, a 55-foot White Fir, will be the showpiece of a magnificent lighting celebration on Saturday, November 12 at the Outlets at Castle Rock. The annual tree lighting event will feature live music from Matthew Moon, exclusive shopping discounts from more than 100 stores during the center’s 'More Merry! Less Moolah!' 12-hour sidewalk sale, and a visit from Santa.

Colorado's largest Christmas tree, a spectacular 55-foot White Fir, will light up and mark the start of the holiday season at the Outlets at Castle Rock on Saturday, November 12 at 6:00 p.m. A much-anticipated annual event, a full evening of holiday entertainment is planned around the tree lighting. Guests will be treated to a live performance from Matthew Moon, a first seasonal appearance from Santa Claus, and a 12-hour sidewalk sale taking place from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

"It is pure magic to see the tree lit for its seasonal debut," says Lisa Zetah, marketing director at the Outlets at Castle Rock. "The music, entertainment, sales — and of course Santa — invariably put our guests in a holiday mood at our annual tree lighting ceremony. We hope everyone will come out for the fun."

Denise Plante, the engaging morning show hostess on KOSI 101, will emcee the festivities. Colorado singer-songwriter Matthew Moon and his band will escort Santa to the event, and make a dramatic entrance in a Hummer stretch limousine. Moon will take the stage with his band for a free live performance, while Santa visits with the crowd. After his outdoor concert, Moon will present a private acoustic show for ten contest winners and each winner's guest, with catered hors d'oeuvres and an autograph-signing session. Adults 18 years and older are invited to register in advance to win an invitation to the private show at or at the Customer Service Center at the Outlets at Castle Rock. The Outlets at Castle Rock's signature 12-hour sidewalk sale, known as 'More Merry! Less Moolah!' will take place for the entirety of the tree lighting event, until 10:00 p.m.

The Outlets at Castle Rock, located between Denver and Colorado Springs on I-25 at Exit 184, has 120 brand name stores, which offer 30 to 70 percent savings off of retail prices.

The 55-foot White Fir, which traveled two days and 1,200 miles from the Shasta-Trinity National Forest in California, will be the centerpiece of holiday festivity through New Year's Day at the Outlets at Castle Rock.

After arrival at the Outlets at Castle Rock, the tree is placed in a custom-built well. It requires a crew of four and eight days to prepare it for the official lighting celebration. The tree is shaped and plugged with 350 fresh fir branches, coated with 70 gallons of fire retardant, and decorated with 3,500 lights and 3,000 ornaments and bows. After the holiday season, the tree will be completely recycled. Ten White Fir trees will be planted in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest to replenish the harvesting of Colorado's largest Christmas tree.
