Salon Cosmetique, part of the cosmetology training program at Vatterott College, opens its doors on Monday, January 28. This new beauty salon is located at 110 Commerce Lane in Fairview Heights and is open to the public.
Salon Cosmetique offers salon services performed by students completing their cosmetology education and supervised by licensed instructors. The salon is open from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Salon services available to the public include: haircuts, perms, relaxers, color treatments, highlights, manicures, pedicures, beard trims, facials, eyebrow waxing and make-up application.
“The salon helps prepare students with the skills necessary to graduate and become licensed cosmetologists,” said Richelle Lietz, Salon Operations and Cosmetology Program Director at Vatterott College. “Our students benefit from a variety of hands-on and real world experiences and clients can take advantage of our responsibly priced salon services.”
Students enrolled the Fairview Heights cosmetology school earn 1,500 clock hours over a 50 week day or 60 week night program. The program teaches a variety of different techniques for haircutting, hair shaping, and color processes and the art of facials, manicures, pedicures and massages. Students are instructed in the areas of communication, professional image, clinical procedures, and sanitation laws, in addition to salon business and management. Graduates who successfully pass the state exam will be certified to perform standard cosmetology services in beauty salons.
Salon Cosmetique is expecting to offer evening hours beginning Spring 2013.
