Hacienda Matapalo, the best selling Costa Rica real estate development on the country’s South Pacific coast, recently received a declaration from the Aguirre County Municipal Council that recognized the project as being of “Municipal Interest” due to its community commitment.
“We are very proud of this recognition,” said Hacienda Matapalo Chief Executive Officer David Matluck. “The ‘Declaration of Municipal Interest’ is a testament to the conscientious decisions we’ve made as a company to do the right thing for our investors, our future home owners, the local community of which we are part and the country of Costa Rica as a whole.”
As part of the declaration, Hacienda Matapalo was recognized for providing public assistance programs throughout the county from its onset, helping a number of local schools in the community and establishing a pipeline for the creation of approximately 1,000 jobs when complete. Hacienda Matapalo was also recognized for its environmental commitments, having done a lot of work in the ecological sector and being recognized as only one of 10 projects in Latin America that is phytosustainable, which means that the land on the development has been engineered to properly drain without affecting the quality of the soil. The municipality also specifically identified Hacienda Matapalo’s work with the “Blue Flag” ecological program of Playa Matapalo, the Sea Turtle Conservation Program and reforestation programs throughout the Sevegre and Playa El Rey basins among others.
The Declaration of Municipal Interest is the first one ever presented by the Aguirre County Municipal Council to a real estate project and was passed by a vote of five to zero. Hacienda Matapalo was acknowledged as being an excellent representative of the county because of its transparency in everything that is done. Special appreciation went to the fact that Hacienda Matapalo’s nursery produces 5,000 trees every three months which are donated to the county.
