Lee brings amazing skills and experience to an already exceptional group. I’m excited to see the future trajectory of ICA’s advocacy and support under Lee’s intelligent, outcomes-driven management style.
McLean, VA (PRWEB) February 01, 2013
Coulter is pleased to announce that Lee Claassen, CAE, has joined the Coulter team as the new executive director of Coulter’s client, the Interstitial Cystitis Association (ICA). In her role, Claassen will lead the ICA to advocate for interstitial cystitis (IC) research dedicated to discovery of a cure and better treatments, raise awareness, and ensure ICA serves as a central hub for the healthcare providers, researchers and millions of patients who suffer from the disease.
“I am excited and honored to be joining Coulter as ICA’s next executive director,” shared Claassen. “I look forward to collaborating with my new Coulter colleagues, the ICA Board, and the IC community to continue the ICA's tireless work in advocacy, research, and education. I welcome the opportunity to help improve the quality of life for those suffering with IC and to ensure the continued search for better IC treatments and ultimately a cure.”
Claassen has held a variety of leadership positions in health and science-based organizations, as well as serving as a member of nonprofit association boards. Most recently, she served as director for the Spinal Research Foundation, a patient advocacy organization. For nine years, as a staff member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, she was involved in health education, industry relations, and an association-run grant program. Claassen has leadership experience overseeing a wide range of nonprofit association responsibilities, including member recruitment and retention, print and electronic media product development and strategic marketing, and fundraising and organizational development.
“Lee is an outstanding addition to the Coulter Team,” said Thomas Coulter Gibson, CEO, Coulter. “In addition to being an excellent cultural fit, Lee brings amazing skills and experience to an already exceptional group. I’m excited to see the future trajectory of ICA’s advocacy and support under Lee’s intelligent, outcomes-driven management style.”
By hiring Claassen, Coulter adds another Certified Association Executive (CAE) to its ever-growing group and increases the knowledge base of its top-notch executive leadership team. The designation recognizes individual excellence as well as a commitment to lifelong learning, a trait deeply valued by Coulter. Claassen joins 11 other Coulter employees who have earned the CAE designation.
