Commonwealth Psychology Associates, LLC (CPA), one of greater Boston’s fastest growing private behavioral health centers, announced the recent expansion of their location in Newton Corner. Since 2004, the Boston-based center has provided a comprehensive range of behavioral health and psychology services including counseling and therapy, stress management training, health psychology and wellness services, ADHD testing and coaching, educational and support groups, and psychological and neuropsychological testing services. With over 20 psychologists and psychopharmacologists on staff, CPA offers an extensive range of specialty services to meet the needs of most clients. A full list of services is available by clicking Behavioral Health Services in Boston and Newton.
CPA added its Newton Corner location in June 2008, and it rapidly filled to capacity. “Our Newton location is popular and is the preferred location for many of our clients since it offers quick access off of the Mass Pike as well as parking within our building,” says Dr. Andrea Piatt, founder and CEO of Commonwealth Psychology Associates. “Since opening in Newton, we have seen a rapidly growing demand for services in the area and, in particular, the need for behavioral health services for adolescents,” Dr. Piatt said. CPA frequently receives calls from parents and pediatricians who are trying to find qualified specialists to see their child or patient. Many parents and pediatricians have expressed frustration about how difficult it can be to find psychologists who have training and experience working with adolescents and also accept insurance. “There is a shortage of child and adolescent providers across the country, and Massachusetts is no exception,” said Dr. Piatt. “We are excited to be part of the solution to this problem and are addressing it by hiring psychologists that specialize in treating anxiety, depression and other difficulties with adolescents,” she added.
To meet the demand for high-end psychological and behavioral health services for adolescents and adults in Newton and the metrowest area, CPA not only added adolescent services but also acquired an additional 1500+ square feet of office space in their 313 Washington Street location, bringing their total Newton space to almost 3000 square feet. “We have built more offices and have hired new psychologists, including adolescent and young adult specialists, to meet the demand for services. Additionally, we have added more educational and support groups, including our Parental Loss grief group for adults and our new Health & Wellness educational group that helps clients learn about healthier lifestyle choices related to nutrition, exercise and self-care,” Dr. Piatt said. With this expansion, CPA hopes to be able to continue to accept new clients and referrals from area schools, physician groups and pediatricians. “Fortunately, we were able to quickly add to our capacity and to our range of services so that we can meet the needs of the community, continue to accept new clients and offer adolescent services,” Dr. Piatt said. “After all, we are in the business of helping people and our expansion will allow us to help even more people, including adolescents,” she added.
