CoverCake, a social analytics company that works exclusively with the book publishing industry to provide proprietary social media analytics and insights, today announced that it has entered into a data sharing agreement with Ingram Content Group Inc.

Ingram has developed one of the most comprehensive databases in the book industry and electronically delivers rich and multilayered varieties of book data to hundreds of book publishers and retailers worldwide. The agreement with Ingram will allow CoverCake to overlay a rich context of book metadata over social media book conversations and to provide book category analytics and influencer discovery to its customers.

The equivalent of a current, automated mass-scale market survey of books across book categories, the agreement will help CoverCake offer deep social media influencer discovery and book trends across entire industry-standard BISAC subject categories. Ingram’s data, coupled with CoverCake’s comprehensive data architecture will bring together the power of social media to discover not just how millions of people are reacting to specific books and who those people are, but how they’re reacting to entire book subjects, both at a macro and micro level.
As part of the agreement, CoverCake will provide Ingram with book category and individual trends, online influencers and book conversations both through its online dashboard and its own automated data feed.
