Procreate Brands, LLC is proud to announce the nomination of Chalktrail® for Fat Brain Toys’ 2012 Fat Brain Toy Award. In just a few short months, Chalktrail® went from a campaign on Kickstarter to the number two spot on Fat Brain Toys’ Best Selling List, outselling over 7,000 other toys after just two weeks of sales.
“Each and every year, we evaluate thousands upon thousands of toys in hopes of finding ‘a needle in the haystack’. Chalktrail is that rare toy that harnesses the boundless energy of a child into life-size creative expression. A true innovation, Chalktrail represents all the things that Fat Brain Toys stands for - quality, creativity and activity,” commented Mark Carson, President of Fat Brain Toys.
In just a few short months since its unveiling at the New York Toy Fair in February 2012, Chalktrail® has received accolades from such publications as Gizmodo, Gizmag, Parents Magazine, Child MODE, Canadian Family, Raising Cool Kids and more. Parents Magazine named it one of “The Coolest Toys at the Toy Fair 2012.”
Chalktrail®’s unique and inventive design brings bike riding and chalk drawing together in a fun, active way to express creativity. The simple wishbone design attaches to the back of the bicycle with no tools or parent’s help necessary. A variety of colors are available to suit every style, and the design works with any size bicycle frame so everyone in the family can participate. Add a piece of chalk, and kids can immediately start creating their own chalk trails as they ride.
Chalktrail® was born in 2008 when designer and inventor Scott Baumann came up with the idea as he was watched his kids riding their bikes and playing with sidewalk chalk.
He explained, "It went something like this: On the bike, off the bike, draw with chalk, back on the bike, back off the bike, draw some more. I started wondering why nobody had ever combined the two activities so kids could ride and draw at the same time.”
