Callahan & Associates, a credit union consulting firm based in Washington, DC, recently launched the SoundGecko and Tynt applications on its industry website

Since the September re-launch of, Callahan has continuously sought new ways to enhance the user experience and help site visitors access credit union industry data in the way that best suits their lifestyle.

SoundGecko provides mp3s of articles, which allows users to listen to content while on the go and helps those that require sight assistance access Callahan’s rich content. Every article on is now equipped with a “click to listen” button that triggers the SoundGecko option. Once clicked, SoundGecko emails an .mp3 of the article to the reader, allowing them to either listen to it immediately or transfer it to a portable listening device for later use.

“Credit union executives and staff members lead busy lives,” says Alix Patterson, executive editor of Callahan’s media unit. “A quarter of our audience reads our articles on mobile devices, and we recognize the importance of giving them yet another way of engaging with our content — by listening to it on an .mp3 device while they commute or hit the gym.”

Tynt, which is also now available on, provides an efficient way for readers to copy, paste, save, and share content with co-workers and industry peers. When users copy and paste passages from articles, Tynt automatically generates a URL that references the full article. Accidental browser closings will no longer result in readers losing the source of the article.

“Callahan & Associates’ industry analysis is relevant years after we post it on,” says Andrew Bolton, senior Analyst at Callahan. “We’re happy to help users find older popular articles, but this feature is an added benefit in helping our credit unions keep track of source material.”
