CriminalRecords.us.org has updated their database to include information about active warrants, company officials said yesterday.

“This is going to be an incredibly useful tool for our customers,” said company spokesman Josh Fraser. There is a wide variety of ways that they can use the system to protect themselves and their families.”

The move came because of customers who called the company's customer service line asked about access to records for active warrants.

Before, their core business was giving people access to records of people who had been arrested, and details about how much time they had spent incarcerated.

“One of the most common reasons people want to do a warrant check is because they had a speeding ticket a couple years ago while on vacation,” Fraser said. “They sent a check out to pay the ticket, but never heard back from the municipality. They want to make sure they got the check and that there isn't an active warrant out for them for failing to pay it.”

People can also use the system to make sure that the people they interact with are not wanted by the police.

“If you have a new boyfriend who just moved into town, you don't want to worry that the police are going to break down the door and take him away in handcuffs while you spend the night,” Fraser said. “Doing an active warrant check lets you know exactly who are you dealing with so that you can make responsible choices for yourself.”
