Critical inventory logistics provider executes disaster recovery plan to keep service parts moving to systems in need of repair.

Choice Logistics - Critical service parts logistics
We are very proud of the way that our employees have performed under difficult conditions

Choice Logistics, the leading provider of critical inventory logistics, is operating from its Business Continuity Site as the East Coast recovers from the effects of Superstorm Sandy. This is the second time in two years that Choice Logistics has executed its disaster recovery plan and successfully supported its clients during times when demand for repair parts can be at its highest.

To keep service parts moving for mission-critical systems, Choice Logistics positioned Global Logistics Center (GLC) personnel close to its recovery center before Superstorm Sandy reached New York City. As the GLC monitored the storm, clients were updated at least every two hours on weather conditions and related closures of strategic stocking locations (SSLs), airports, roads, bridges and tunnels.

Appreciation for the leadership, dedication, transparency and resourcefulness of Choice Logistics and its employees, some of which are now enduring extreme conditions in their personal lives, has been expressed by many clients, including some of the world’s largest technology manufacturers. They credit Choice Logistics for much of the praise they in turn have received from their customers for service parts delivery throughout the disaster.

“Thank you for your words of encouragement and support. They are extremely motivating for our entire team,” wrote Michael Katz, CEO of Choice Logistics in an email message to clients last Friday. “Every day brought new challenges--flooding and road closures, sporadic power outages, extreme traffic conditions, and fuel shortages--just to name a few. We are very proud of the way that our employees have performed under difficult conditions and of the partnership that we have developed with you over the years.”

All SSLs impacted by Superstorm Sandy had secured their inventories prior to closure, so no parts were damaged. Choice Logistics will continue to operate from its Business Recovery Site until at least the end of the week, moving operations back to its headquarters at One Whitehall Street in New York City once equipment inspections and systems checks are performed and the impact of the next strong storm in the area, due today, is known.
