The L’Ecole Culinaire Academy for Culinary Development will host a special holiday open house on December 14, 2011, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at their new location in Olivette. Live holiday musical performances, cooking demos and light samples will make it a festive holiday atmosphere.

“We are excited to host an open house to help get everyone in the holiday spirit,” said Chef Matthew Borchardt, director of L’Ecole Culinaire Academy. “This event will allow people to see our chefs in action, while sampling some holiday recipes they have prepared. We are hoping this open house will inspire people to create something new for their family and friends this holiday season.”

The L’Ecole Culinaire Academy offers courses which are designed for the public and for those who love all things culinary, from cooking to wine tasting to ice carving, as well as for industry professionals. Many of the L’Ecole Culinaire Academy’s chef instructors are also on staff at L’Ecole Culinaire, our culinary management school that provides diploma and degree programs for aspiring culinary professionals. Featured holiday courses in December include Holiday Sauce Making, Holiday Pies and Gingerbread/Cookie Decorating.

The 2,000-square-foot facility has three main teaching areas: one for baking/pastry and chocolate; a general kitchen area; and space for beverage classes and additional retail and prep areas. The new facility is equipped with high-end residential appliances to give students the feel of a home kitchen.

Cooking classes in St. Louis range from half-days to four days, providing focused training in specialized areas. “Students can learn everything from how to sculpt and design exquisite cakes, to understanding the art of sushi making,” Borchardt said. “We also offer practical classes such as ServSafe Management and Nutrition Certification. There is something for just about everyone who has a passion for food or is involved in food preparation.”

The L’Ecole Culinaire Academy for Culinary Development is located at 9200 Olive Boulevard, Suite 108, in the Shoppes at Price Crossing, in Olivette. More information about the Academy can be found at http://www.lecoleacademy.com or by calling 314-264-1999.
