The hot fabric for this summer is the use of cool sheer either on its own or layered with other textured fabrics. It has taken the catwalk by storm with designers like Donna Karan, Vera Wang and Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte favouring gauzy sheers in the collections in the New York Fashion Week that showcased what to expect this Spring.
Interior design copies the catwalk and when ethnic prints or military influences are what is on the street it soon appears in office and home furnishings. The prints displayed in the designs by Thakoon Panichgul, Peter Som, Proenza Schouler and Jason Wu will undoubtedly be reflected in the print patterns that will make it into our living spaces and hang in curtains at our windows.
Curtain Wizard, leading ready made curtains retailer, can confirm that savvy customers are right on the pulse with their choice of curtains. Demand for printed and patterned fabrics has been great, working particularly well with floral bedding. Florals, whether in the traditional style or the new trend, are very popular at present with oversized flower heads featuring in many of the designs. On the catwalk palm trees and exotic lotus flowers have made an impact and not only are the flowers representative of the trend but they feature in organza – back to the sheer element.
Curtain Wizard and Blinds Wizard have a terrific range of sheers in plain or patterned finishes they offer their customers that would be fabulous on their own just as the fashion garments are, or they would be magnificent for creating a layered look just as happens on the catwalk.
