Cutco Foundation Hosts 9th Annual Lecture on Entrepreneurial Leadership

In its ongoing efforts to promote entrepreneurship, Cutco Cutlery will sponsor the 9th Annual Cutco Foundation Lecture on Entrepreneurial Leadership at Alfred University on Tuesday, April 15, 2008.

Our goal with this program is to expose Alfred University students, faculty and friends of the university to the motivations, leadership skills and business approaches that have taken our high profile speakers to success in their careers

    The guest speaker will be Lance P. Shaner, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, The Shaner Group and a 1975 graduate of Alfred University. The Shaner Group, founded by Lance Shaner and his brother, Fred, is a family of companies that includes ownership and operating interests in hospitality properties, oil and gas exploration and distribution companies, third-part accounting operations and highly successful investment funds.

"Our goal with this program is to expose Alfred University students, faculty and friends of the university to the motivations, leadership skills and business approaches that have taken our high profile speakers to success in their careers," said Jim Stitt, chairman of the board of Alcas Corporation, the parent company of Cutco Cutlery and Vector Marketing.

The annual Cutco Foundation Lecture is made possible through an endowment to Alfred University from Erick and Marianne Laine and The Cutco Foundation. Its goal is to attract nationally prominent entrepreneurial leaders to campus to meet with students, faculty, and friends of the university. Past speakers have included:

-- Andrea Jung, chairman of Avon Products

-- Doris Christopher, founder and chairman of the Pampered Chef

-- Peter Cuneo, CEO of Marvel Comics

-- David Oreck, chairman and founder of Oreck Corporation

-- Tami Longaberger, CEO and chairman of Longaberger Company

-- Richard Smucker, co-CEO and CFO of the J.M. Smucker Company

-- James Houghton, Chairman of the Board of Corning, Inc.

-- Joel Moskowitz, Chairman of the Board of Ceradyne, Inc.

Cutco Cutlery, based in Olean, NY, is the nation's largest kitchen cutlery manufacturing company. Founded in 1949, Cutco sells its products through Vector Marketing (http://www.campusrelations.com), comprised predominantly of a national network of college students who sell through in-home personal demonstrations.
