Executives from three major endpoint security providers form roundtable to discuss the current threatscape in the U.S.

Lumension Security, Inc. today announced its support for National Cybersecurity Awareness Month by providing a never before released podcast discussion with industry leaders including Toney Jennings, president and CEO, CoreTrace; Brian Beard, vice president and U.S. country manager, Norman and Pat Clawson, chairman and CEO, Lumension. Eric Ogren, founder and principal analyst of the Ogren Group leads the discussion around the uncertainties surrounding cyber threats to U.S. infrastructure, as well as what is and what is not being done at the government level to reign in national cybersecurity efforts in the U.S.

The cybersecurity awareness podcast, which is available for download today , covers several issues the U.S. is currently facing in the realm of cybersecurity, such as the disconnect between the public and private sectors regarding the inability to share and exchange data; threats to intellectual property from other countries via data breaches; the limited scope of the federal government’s regulation and why leaders such as cybersecurity czar Howard Schmidt should have more power; security initiatives recently enacted in other countries that the U.S. can learn from, etc.

October marks the seventh annual National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, which is an initiative sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security, the National Cyber Security Alliance, and the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center to make Americans more aware of the constant barrage of online security threats they face on a daily basis, so that they can take steps to keep their personal assets and information secure while also helping to improve the overall security of cyberspace.

“Our intention behind the podcast was to provide an informal discussion to get honest and straightforward information out to businesses and consumers alike,” said Pat Clawson of Lumension. “By rallying well-respected industry insiders together, we are able to lead the charge and provide a unique perspective from organizations at the forefront of several major endpoint security initiatives.”

The danger with politically motivated cyber attacks is real and the need for both defensive and offensive responses to such attacks is crucial, especially in today’s rapidly changing online landscape. Lumension’s goal is to educate enterprises and the public as a whole on the risks involved with accessing the Internet and the preventative measures that can be taken in order to ensure end user information is safe and secure. This podcast is just one step in a series of initiatives to ensure that essential information is available and easily accessible, as cyber threats continue to become more frequent and severe.

“The fact that Lumension is making this information open and available to everyone for free furthers the initiatives set forth by National Cybersecurity Awareness Month as well as Lumension’s own resourcefulness in increasing awareness and promoting online safety,” said Eric Ogren, founder and principal analyst, The Ogren Group.

In the coming weeks, Lumension will announce further efforts to educate organizations on cybersecurity. Visit to gain access and stay up-to-date on the latest information.
