BMC Bike retailer, Palo Alto Bicycles announces Greg Lemond, a world-class cyclist and a three-time Tour de France champion, was among the hundreds of riders who participated in Palo Alto’s first ever Grand Fondo on September 17. Palo Alto Bicycles has been a great supporter of Lemond ever since he started his cycling career and the company continuously pays homage to his many accomplishments.

“Long before winning the tour as the first non-European cyclist in 1986, 1989 and 1990, Lemond caught the eyes of two Palo Alto businessmen,” said Jeff Selzer, general manager of Palo Alto Bicycles.

Lemond led hundreds of riders from City Hall during the Grand Fondo event and it has been a great experience for everyone to cycle with this amazing athlete. Blown away by his amazing talent, owners of Palo Alto Bicycles became his sponsor of cycling equipment for his cycling career while offering Lemond encouragement to pursue the sport and race in Europe. He is now recognized as a cycling icon as a result of his success in the Junior World Championship and the Tour de France. Palo Alto Bicycles is honored to sponsor and support this great athlete and the shop even has a framed and signed jersey from Lemond’s Junior World Championship success.

Now that Lemond is back in Palo Alto, the residents were thrilled to have Lemond in the fundraising event which raised money for the benefit of several foundations including the Ronald McDonald House at Stanford, the Boys and Girls Club of America, Guide Dogs for the Blind, The Lance Armstrong Foundation and many more. Greg Lemond truly is one of the most remarkable athletes of all time and he is not just talented, but he also has a big heart. In addition to his love of cycling, Lemond is dedicated to reaching out to those in need.
