Dahlia Web Designs LLC launches the website for the White Plains Concerned Citizens for Open Space Inc. "We enjoy supporting small businesses and special initiatives in their website and marketing initiatives," states Dahlia Benaroya, President, Dahlia Web Designs LLC.
Concerned Citizens for Open Space (CCOS) is a not-for-profit organization based in White Plains, N.Y. Its mission is the preservation, maintenance, and acquisition of open space in the city. The organization was formed in 1984 as a result of community action to preserve the grounds of New York Hospital from a vast commercial development. Faculty and staff at the hospital (Concerned Citizens) joined with a local group interested in the conservation of open space (Committee for Open Space), and CCOS was born.
"Over the past 20 years CCOS has been preserving as much open space and parkland in White Plains as possible." Accomplishments include preventing destruction of the historic and beautiful Frederick Law Olmsted-designed grounds of New York-Presbyterian Hospital, aiding in the extension of the Greenway, helping the residents of Hillair Circle and Rocky Dell to persuade the Common Council to purchase the D’ Elia and Mindich properties for clean-up and development as a park, and awarding annual scholarships to White Plains high school students active in environmental projects.
"The new website will enable the group to expand its visibility, its membership, and keep viewers abreast of the news and efforts of the group in a timely fashion," states Dahlia.
