In 2012 Dahn Yoga practice will take on new meaning, literally. Each issue of Dahn Yoga Life, the Dahn Yoga community newsletter, will feature the Dahn Yoga Glossary. With this section, Dahn Yoga education takes on a new mission: to help people understand the deeper meaning behind the words used in Dahn Yoga classes. More than a translation from Korean to English, this new feature offers language as a form of meditation.

A prime example is the March entry of the Dahn Yoga Glossary, revealing the deeper meaning of the phrase "Ban-gap-seubnida." It is a Korean greeting with which Dahn Yoga instructors greet students, or students greet each other at the start of every class. Though generally understood to mean "nice to see you," a deeper meaning of the phrase implies that the speaker is meeting someone who is bright, radiant and divine. This expresses the Korean Sundo cultural belief in the existence of divinity in all people. More than a simple greeting, it is an acknowledgement of the potential for greatness in all of us.

The Dahn Yoga Glossary provides a glimpse into the deeper meaning of the practice, as well as the words. A simple service to the Dahn Yoga community, this monthly installment can also provide insight to practitioners of other forms of yoga and meditation.
