This year, every issue of Dahn Yoga Life will feature an in depth look at a word or phrase regularly used in Dahn Yoga practice. Jungsung is the featured word this month.

Occasionally those who attend Dahn Yoga classes or read books and articles on the practice may come across a word or phrase that they don’t quite understand. While class experience can often fill in any gaps, many people would benefit from more thorough explanations.

In the August issue of the newsletter, Dahn Yoga Life, the glossary term "jungsung" is more clearly defined. Dahn Yoga Practice requires certain basic attitudes, and typical of these attitudes is jungsung, which can be translated as “devotion.” The Glossary explains how practicing devotion through simple everyday activities, or through pursuing an inspiring goal, such as physical health, and also in the loving attitude you demonstrate to others, the soul is nourished and blooms.

This month's Dahn Yoga Glossary entry also explores the ways that devotion manifests itself in individuals and how the lack of devotion affects society. Several simple suggestions for practicing devotion in daily life are offered and, as Dahn Yoga is energy-based, one Dahn Yoga principle can be restated as “energy follows the mind, the devoted heart.” The act of showing intense devotion results in the refining of all emotions and a flowering of noble, beautiful feelings.

With such in-depth explanations of words and phrases regularly used in the Dahn Yoga Community, the new Glossary will deepen the practitioner’s understanding, experience and results.
