Dahn Yoga Commends Libertyville, Illinois Meditation Circle Leader for March 2012

For 2012, Dahn Yoga classes and community activities emphasize meditation. Many Dahn Yoga outreach instructors voluntarily lead community-based meditation circles. One such exemplary instructor is Dr. Deborah Galen of Libertyville, Illinois.

What amazes me is that anyone can experience this - they don't have to be particularly spiritual, just willing to bring their focus inside.

For years, Dahn Yoga exercises have been made available beyond the confines of yoga studios, through the actions of dedicated Dahn Yoga outreach instructors. Now Dahn Yoga support for community-based health and wellness has extended to the creation of meditation circles.

In 2012, Dahn Yoga & Health Centers, Inc., a national leader in health and wellness, and its affiliates have placed an emphasis on meditation by offering new workshops and classes featuring meditation. Recognizing the benefits to society if more people practice meditation, Dahn Yoga has also encouraged volunteers to host free, community-based meditation circles. The Dahn Yoga community celebrates the achievements of the remarkable individuals who are making a difference by leading meditation circles. One shining example is Dr. Deborah Galen of Liberty, Illinois.

Galen, a physician, medical acupuncturist and Diplomat of the American Association of Integrative Medicine at the nearby Navy base, was at first discouraged when the initial attendance at her meditation classes was sporadic. However, after hearing about the site MeetUp.com, Galen stepped outside of her comfort zone and decided to register her meditation circle on the site. Before she knew it, she was fielding interest from almost 70 people. In this way Dr. Galen discovered unexpected local interest in her meditation circle.The experience has enhanced her appreciation of Dahn Yoga practice. "It is a very humbling and sacred moment to witness someone feeling energy for the first time," she said. "What amazes me is that anyone can experience this - they don't have to be particularly spiritual, just willing to bring their focus inside." Galen is aiming to encourage other volunteer instructors in her area to host meditation circles on MeetUp.com.

Dahn Yoga meditation includes several forms are unique to the practice, but are simple enough to be easily enjoyed by people with no previous experience. Instructors like Galen will insure that the benefits of this practice will be available whether or not someone has the means or opportunity to step into a yoga studio.
