I am so happy that we can be a part of this great dance school that combines excellent technique with such a positive, nurturing attitude and philosophy! Thank you!!

International Academy of Dance, offering dance classes, adult classes and ballet classes to residents of Santa Cruz, Watsonville and beyond, is happy to announce that its June production will be “Around the World in Dance.” This is an excellent opportunity for all of I.A.D.'s students, whatever age and ability, to perform dances that are representational of all the hard work put forth throughout the year by the teachers and students alike.

Most children's classes will participate - from ballet to hip-hop - alongside Company and adult dancers, some of whom have been dancing with I.A.D. since it was established. The production will be held at the Mello Center in Watsonville on Saturday, June 9. One piece of student choreography will be selected from March's Choreography Showcase to be performed on the stage. For a preview of what people might see, DVDs from the June 2011 production are available for $22.

"I am so happy that we can be a part of this great dance school that combines excellent technique with such a positive, nurturing attitude and philosophy! Thank you!" says Bari Miller, prominent Santa Cruz photographer.

About International Academy of Dance

Although I.A.D offers many forms of dance and a variety of classes, at the root of their studio is a pre-professional ballet program that upholds the highest tenets of the art form, whether for enjoyment, coordination, movement for theater or a career in dance. The tenets of serious dance training and in particular, classical ballet, are timeless and cross over to most any walk of life. The many skills of the dancer are the life skills of poise, articulation, grace, artistry, attention to detail, working with a group in harmony, discipline, hard work, timeliness, mastery, physicality, attack, enthusiasm, performance quality and consistency. Of equal importance is that I.A.D. maintains the JOY of dance in the process and also support well-versed, balanced and healthy dancers. They provide the highest caliber training in a comfortable and encouraging atmosphere from ballet classes to adult dance. Many of the instructors have been successfully training and coaching professional dancers in Santa Cruz for more than 20 years. The Director and Staff at I.A.D. consider physical, mental and emotional wellness to be of utmost importance. Their belief is that everyone can enjoy the benefits of dance classes from the three-year old pre-ballet student to the pre-professional dancer or adult student looking for an enjoyable way to exercise.
