Iranian News Reports the Celebrated Author’s Prestigious Award for Best Illustrations.
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 18, 2012
Critically-acclaimed children’s author Tina Turbin has made headlines in Iran for one of her latest awards for her multi-award-winning illustrated kids book Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy.
The Iran Book News Agency (http://www.ibna.ir) has reported that Turbin received First Prize for Best Illustrations in the prestigious Five Star Publication Purple Dragonfly Awards for its expertly-rendered illustrations by Aija Jasuna. The Annual Purple Dragonfly Awards is a highly competitive program honoring excellence in juvenile literature.
“Winning any place in the Purple Dragonfly Contest is a huge honor,” said the president of the Dragonfly Book Awards’ sponsor, Five Star Publications, Linda Radke. “Competition is steep, too, because there is no publication date limit as long as the book is still in print.”
According to the Iranian article, Turbin’s illustrations were enthusiastically praised by the judges who called them “outstanding,” with the following judges’ comments: “Not only are the illustrations charming and expertly rendered, the paintings practically leap off the page! Rather than static or two-dimensional, they are full-bodied, full of movement and motion. They speak well to the story and would engage the imagination of old and young alike. An excellent job!" The full article can be read on the Iranian Book News Agency’s website at http://www.ibna.ir/vdcba8b8wrhb8zp.4eur.txt.
Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy, praised by critics and cherished by parents for its positive messages, tells the story of how Jimmy comes across Danny the Dragon and his traveling companion Skipper on a family trip to the beach and the blossoming of their friendship as Jimmy’s parents welcome Danny and Skipper into their home. As reported by the Iranian Book News Agency, Turbin searched the globe extensively for an illustrator, unwilling to compromise her vision of Danny the Dragon and his fellow characters. She eventually found the award-winning artist Aija Jasuna all the way in Latvia, Europe. The book and subsequently-released Danny the Dragon media, including the Danny the Dragon Dreams CD and Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy DVD have won numerous highly-esteemed awards including the Media of the Year Award by Creative Child Magazine and the Mom’s Choice Award.
The author on her blog (http://www.DannytheDragon.com/blog) called the news article an “unexpected pleasure.” According to Imagination Publishing Group (IPG) representative Alan Wayne, international attention is expected to grow tremendously over the course of the new year.
Since the launch of the cutting-edge Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy children’s book iPhone/iPad app featuring sign language interpretation and Turbin’s recent East Coast and European Book Tours, Turbin and her celebrated character Danny the Dragon have been taking the world by storm. “IPG expects that we’ll be seeing a lot more of Tina and Danny all around the globe,” said Wayne. “This article in the Iranian news is an honor for many who have worked and been involved in this popular title and with the author.”
