First Prize for 2011 Media of the Year Award by Creative Child Magazine
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) December 21, 2011
Critically-acclaimed children’s author Tina Turbin, author of the multi-award-winning illustrated kids book Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy, is kicking off the New Year with “bigger plans than ever” for her illustrated kids book series, the author announced.
According to Turbin, last year was the author’s “biggest and busiest year so far” since the release of the first book of her award-winning children’s book series. The author spent the first part of the year on her Danny the Dragon West Coast Book Tour, with visits to schools, libraries, hospitals, and book fairs, which came to a close with a series of prestigious honors including the most recent 2011 Media of the Year Award by Creative Child Magazine in the category of Reading Interactive Picture Books and First Prize for Best Illustrations in the competitive Purple Dragonfly Book Awards for its illustrations by Aija Jasuna. Turbin then headed to the European continent for her 2 months Danny the Dragon European Book Tour, where the author announced that Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy would be translated in Spanish and Greek by Imagination Publishing Group.
The tale of how Jimmy and his family meet Danny the Dragon and his traveling companion, Skipper, Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy is the critically acclaimed first book in Turbin’s illustrated Danny the Dragon kids book series. The title has been praised far and wide for its pro-family messages and is the recipient of numerous accolades from prestigious awards programs including the iParenting Media Awards, the International Book Awards and the Mom’s Choice Awards. The subsequently-released Danny the Dragon Dreams CD has won numerous awards as well.
Turbin took the world by storm in 2011 with the release of a innovative Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy iPhone and iPad app, which was developed by iStoryTime, the app developer for How to Train Your Dragon. The first of its kind, Turbin’s app features a reading of Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy with sign language interpretation for the deaf and hard of hearing.
As the year begins, Turbin is continuing to handle the intense media interest generated with the release of the Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy app while she works in her Los Angeles studio on Danny the Dragon’s next adventures. According to an Imagination Publishing Group representative, Danny the Dragon fans have some exciting new releases to look forward to. A date hasn’t been set yet for the released translations of Danny the Dragon Meets Jimmy, according to an IPG representative.
Even though Tina’s West Coast and European Book Tours are behind her, she will continue to make appearances in libraries, schools, hospitals, and book fairs in the Southern California area, reading to children and answering their many questions. Despite her busy schedule, the author, a renowned humanitarian in areas such as children’s literacy, health, celiac disease and gluten-free living , will also be dedicating much of her time to various philanthropic causes.
