Multi-award-winning children’s book author Tina Turbin, best known for her critically-acclaimed Danny the Dragon illustrated kids book series, is quickly gaining acclaim for her children’s literacy work. Turbin has become a leading advocate for early literacy and education, speaking out to parents, groups and educators to get kids reading at an early age.

Nevertheless, she continues to make radio show appearances and to visit schools, libraries, and bookstores to promote her cause.
The author is also a literacy advocate for deaf and hard-of-hearing children. After visiting a school for the deaf on her East Coast Book Tour, she began supporting literacy for the deaf by releasing a Danny the Dragon Meet s Jimmy DVD with a reading by a sign interpreter and a groundbreaking iPad app which was the first children’s book app to offer sign language interpretation. She is also a guest columnist for the United Kingdom website, TheDeafBlog.co.uk, where she writes about deaf children’s literacy and education.
“It’s so exciting to be able to have the opportunity to make a difference like this,” Turbin said. “I believe if we all work hard together, we can reverse the literacy statistics. As a children’s author I do what I can and encourage other authors to join me. ”
