Los Angeles-based production company, Scarlet Fire Entertainment, is to produce the movie adaptation of Dare Comics’ critically acclaimed debut title, The Hunter.

A contemporary superhero comic set against the backdrop of organized crime, The Hunter launched in 2007 to widespread critical acclaim and quickly built an international readership currently standing at more than 130,000 through its innovative print and online distribution strategy.

Founded by writer/producers Allan Loeb (21, Things We Lost In The Fire, Wall Street 2) and Steven Pearl (The Beast, Untraceable), Scarlet Fire Entertainment has established a reputation for producing high quality movies and television.

“We’re extremely pleased to be working with Scarlet Fire. They understood The Hunter immediately, and saw in it the potential to create a compelling new universe that loyal fans and newcomers alike will love seeing come to life on the big screen,” said Dare Comics founder, Adam Hamdy.

Scarlet Fire Entertainment executive Shane Abrahams spotted The Hunter on Nikke Finke’s Deadline Hollywood, and made contact with Hamdy through Facebook. Abrahams says, “As a serious comic fan, I had to get my hands on the first series, and when I read them, I realized I was on to something unique.”

Adam Hamdy will write the feature screenplay. Details are under wraps, but Hamdy says, “It’s an entirely original Hunter story; a fresh and exciting way of introducing movie-goers to a character that has captured the imagination of comic fans around the world.”

“Not only is Adam an accomplished writer, he is an innovative entrepreneur. He’s succeeded in building a new superhero brand virtually single-handed in a market that is dominated by big companies with very deep pockets” said producer Steven Pearl. “We’re excited to be working with him.”

Hamdy will produce the movie adaptation alongside Scarlet Fire Entertainment. “Collaborating with Shane, Steven and Allan is a real privilege. Audiences will get a thrilling movie experience. We plan to show them things they’ve never seen before,” said Hamdy.
