Engaging in meaningful conversations is all that matters in the digital world. There are always individuals who want to share their expertise and musicians hungry for knowledge that will benefit their career.

Darker Music Talks connects independent musicians with music experts and gives them a stage to have a meaningful conversation, in a series of monthly free events.

"Engaging in meaningful conversations is all that matters in the digital world. There are always individuals who want to share their expertise and musicians hungry for knowledge that will benefit their career."

Tommy Darker is the founder, independent musician and a music entrepreneur who wants to take independent music to a bigger level. The goal of these series of events is to break the boundaries between independent artists and music expert knowledge, by bringing those two parties together.

The project started last January in London. One month before the event, Tommy Darker ran a small-scale survey in London, meeting local musicians and asking them, "What do you struggle with?"

According to the conclusions of this survey, one of the major problems they face lies in the lack of credible sources of knowledge that musicians can trust and apply effectively. This is how Darker Music Talks started.

The pilot event took place the 14th of January, with success and lots of happy faces.

The first music expert to share his insights was Andrew Dubber, Reader in Music Industries Innovation at Birmingham City University, lecturer, author, public speaker, founder of New Music Strategies, advisor to Bandcamp and Planzai and polymath.

The feedback was very encouraging.
"The talk was inspiring, highly informative and the nice environment made the conversation flow. Andrew definitely knows tons about music in the digital age and it was an honor to see him speak live," says Jono Solo, an attendee and founder of the London music video production company, King's Cross Media.

All independent musicians are invited to register online for free for the next events, attendance will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
