Colectica is pleased to announce that its staff were selected to give several presentations at the upcoming European Data Documentation Initiative (DDI) conference in Bergen, Norway. Each year, Colectica sends representatives to the European DDI conference to share ideas and consult with other users of standardized data documentation. This year, Colectica staff will conduct one workshop, present two papers, and participate in a poster session.
"We are excited to once again be in Europe for the EDDI conference" said Dan Smith, a Partner at Colectica. "We always enjoy exchanging ideas and experiences with other Data Documentation users and implementers."
Before the conference begins, a Colectica workshop titled "Hands on DDI 3 with Colectica" will be given Monday December 3rd at the Norwegian Social Science Data Services. The training course will cover an introduction to DDI 3 and Colectica, documenting studies, data collection, and dissemination, ingesting existing data sources, and publishing documentation.
A paper titled "Powering Official Statistics at Statistics New Zealand with DDI-L and Colectica: A Case Study" will be presented. This presentation will highlight how Statistics New Zealand is using DDI and Colectica to document and drive its statistical production processes. It will look at the software components, metadata standards, and workflows used at Statistics New Zealand, and will review the accomplishments made and future plans.
A presentation titled "Managing Private and Public Views of DDI Metadata Repositories" will examine solutions for privacy issues in metadata dissemination. The talk will highlight the Colectica Workflow Service and how it addresses this challenge by providing a publication workflow for DDI metadata.
In addition to the workshop and presentations, a poster session titled "Colectica: Data Management with DDI 3" will highlight Colectica version 4. In addition, the recently released Colectica for Excel will be highlighted.
Colectica staff will be available to give evaluations of the DDI based software tools available from Colectica that enable documenting of data, data collection, survey methodologies, survey instruments, questions, variables, and datasets. All of these products use open standards to allow for interoperability with other tools.
