New York, NY (PRWEB) August 08, 2012
HELP USA announced today that it is celebrating a longtime supporter, David Simon of the David Simon Foundation, with a plaque dedicating the Newark Clinton Hill Apartments Counseling Center in his honor.
“Thanks to supporters like David Simon and his foundation, HELP USA built the Newark Clinton Hill Apartments Counseling Center and is working with our clients to break the cycle of dependency by addressing the underlying causes in a way that respects the dignity of those we serve,” said Maria Cuomo Cole, HELP USA Board Chair. “In addition to his regular support of our organization and events, since 1999 David Simon has co-chaired the HELP USA Annual Golf Tournament in Purchase, New York that has raised in excess of $6.5 million.”
The 56-unit apartment building in Newark’s South Ward provides permanent, affordable housing for veterans and low-income families. The first LEED Platinum building in the area, the building incorporates green and sustainable features in the overall building design. It also features a rooftop garden where tenants grow fresh vegetables. Newark Clinton Hill Apartment residents also enjoy computer rooms, a fitness center, meeting rooms, and community service space for programs to serve veterans, other tenants and members of the local community.
“I feel humbled and extremely grateful to be honored by an organization that does such wonderful work,” said David Simon. “I hope the counseling center at Newark Clinton Hill Apartments will be a place of solace, comfort and support.”
