Da Vinci Academy, an independent school for intellectually gifted students and their families, was voted Best Private School and Best Day Camp for the second consecutive year in the 2011 Daily Herald Readers’ Choice Awards. The school is located in Elgin, IL and serves families from across the Fox Valley region and western Chicago suburban area.
The school was founded in 2000 to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of bright children who need a more challenging and engaging school environment. Serving approximately 135 students in grades PK-8, Da Vinci Academy’s academic program combines small classes and a challenging curriculum with teachers experienced in meeting the needs of bright children. The school is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) and is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).
Da Vinci’s summer camp program is open to the public for children entering grades K-6. The camp has nine weekly themes that combine discovery, education, and recreation. Activities include outdoor sports and small group team-building, along with age-appropriate instruction and hands-on activities in math, reading, science, and drama. Students in seventh grade or higher can participate as Leaders in Training to assist camp staff in mentoring younger students.
Admission applications are still being accepted for enrollment in the 2011-12 school year. Summer Camp registration is underway and families can register for any of the nine weeks.
