Da Vinci Academy is pleased to offer chess and musical drama summer camp programs open to the public.
Grandmaster Nikola Mitkov will be offering a half-day afternoon Chess Camp at Da Vinci during the week of June 6-10 for students entering grades K-8. Sessions will run from 12-3 PM and are open to players at all levels from novice to expert. The cost is $140 if you sign up by May 23, or $150 after that. Da Vinci Academy teachers Jaime Surdynski (Music) and Marge Uhlarik-Boller (Middle School Language Arts & Drama) will direct a two week Musical Drama Camp full of gleeful, musical, creative drama fun. This camp will focus on games, improvisations, musical numbers, and choreography with a wonderful shared performance on the last day. Music explored will cover different genres including popular, oldies, and theatrical songs. Open to students entering grades 4-9.
The two-week session runs Monday, June 20 through Friday, July 1 from 11:00 AM until 3:30 PM with aftercare available at an additional charge. The two-week cost is $400.00 per student with a maximum of 20 students. Non-Da Vinci students are welcome and single week participants will be considered. Da Vinci Academy was founded in 2000 and is an ISACS accredited independent school for intellectually gifted and talented students in grades PK-8. The school is located in Elgin, IL, just west of Randall Road at 37W080 Hopps Road. The school community includes families from across the Fox Valley region of the western Chicago suburbs.
