Our agreement with Wolfgang's Vault offers Daytrotter bands the opportunity to reach a larger audience
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) January 17, 2008
Wolfgang's Vault, the online home for live music, announced today a substantial investment in online indie music destination, Daytrotter. This partnership will enable Daytrotter to grow its audience for unique recordings from undiscovered indie rock artists, and continue offering these recordings as free mp3 downloads.
Sean Moeller, Daytrotter's founder, retains all of his responsibilities as "Mr. Daytrotter," including creative control of the website, scouting for new musical talent, and working with the musicians he discovers to record live sessions at Daytrotter's Rock Island studio.
"Our agreement with Wolfgang's Vault offers Daytrotter bands the opportunity to reach a larger audience," said Moeller. "We already have some big, exciting developments in the works as a result of our new relationship with Wolfgang's Vault, including many things that we just weren't capable of doing in the past. This partnership will only increase the exhaustive exclusive content that our readers and listeners have come to expect from us scrappy Midwestern music nerds at Daytrotter."
"We are huge fans of Daytrotter, and impressed with Sean's ability to find and showcase great, undiscovered artists," said Bill Sagan, CEO of Wolfgang's Vault. "Sean reminds me of Bill Graham in his early years, as supporter of artists with a focus on the music and the experience of the listener, reshaping popular music. We are happy to support his efforts."
Daytrotter was started in Feb. 2006 on a shoestring budget and made its name through its passion for recording and spotlighting honest, genuine and memorable music, regardless of trends, buzz or hipster whims. All of the exclusive Daytrotter recording sessions are recorded to analog tape, done in one room with no headphones. The 250 sessions from its two years of existence include sessions with indie rock luminaries Will Oldham, The Mountain Goats and David Bazan, as well as New Stars Of Montreal, Cold War Kids, Andrew Bird and The National. It exists in hopes that great music never gets ignored or forgotten and that the people that create that great music can make a living doing so.
