DBS Plugged-In Research Second Phase Report

Among others, the survey detects the rise of proactive consumers in Singapore who are young — 18-24 years of age, both male and female. These are digital denizens who rely heavily on product information in blogs, reviews and social networks.

DBS Dialogues, a website for entrepreneurs in Singapore and across Asia, has posted its second Plugged-In Survey report. The 30-page summary reveals valuable insights on upcoming business trends including demand for environment-friendly products and business preference for online marketing that cater to younger consumers. Complete with key summaries and detailed graphs, the in-depth reports and video are available at the DBS Dialogues website.

The Plugged-In Survey is DBS Dialogues's research initiative to provide SME owners with credible data on consumer behaviour and crucial insights on current business trends. Conducted by TNS, a professional research agency, the report surveyed 400 consumers and 100 SME owners in Singapore. The questions are user-generated, as voted by DBS Dialogues site visitors themselves. The highly-downloaded first Plugged-In report delved into what the consumer thinks before buying a product as well as the ins and outs of expanding a business enterprise. The second and last phase of the report probes deeper into SME trends and the modern consumer psyche.

Among others, the survey detects the rise of proactive consumers in Singapore who are young — 18-24 years of age, both male and female. These are digital denizens who rely heavily on product information in blogs, reviews and social networks. Other valuable findings indicate a demand for simple loaning processes for SMEs, an optimistic outlook on the region's economic situation for the next 6 months and the predominance of print media advertisements over TV and radio ads. Grounded and credible, the survey findings could be a springboard for profitable business ventures.

DBS Dialogues seeks to inspire entrepreneurs through in-depth video interviews, helpful advice, practical tips and reliable insights from Singapore's leading entrepreneurs. It provides essential and timely guidance for small and medium-sized businesses in Singapore and across Asia.
