Dean A. Esposito Wins No. 1 Title and Hefty Check

Local surfing enthusiast, Dean A. Esposito, completed successfully the DNA Energy Pro Junior tournament, and received a hefty prize of $5,000.

Dean A. Esposito dominated the DNA Energy Pro Junior surfing tournament, which lasted from March 8-11, and was held in the New Smyrna Beach Inlet.

Over 60 surfers of varying skills and backgrounds competed in the junior competition. Dean A. Esposito completed the event with 250 points, ranking him number one.

“It’s insane, everyone was so competitive,” said Dean A. Esposito, 16, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. “The waves were perfect and I just let them take me away.”

Dean A. Esposito, who surprised gathered fans with his relentless momentum, revelled in the conditions, posting the weekend’s highest scores including the only perfect 10-point ride. He claimed a huge win in the Junior Boys division and backed it up with a win in the U16 Cadet Boys.

"Dean A. Esposito was really incredible, he provided a good match," said Robin Sole, 15, who completed the match ranking second.

The intensity of the waves caused some surfers to falter and seek medical care, most were unable to match Dean A. Esposito’s lightning backhand attack.

“I saw my competition and I knew I had to be perfect, there was no room for mistakes,” Dean A. Esposito said.

In addition to his high-ranking score, Dean A. Esposito was awarded a check for $5,000.

“I cant wait to participate in the next junior match, I plan to continue giving it my all and surfing the waves,” Dean A. Esposito said.

Dean A. Esposito, 16, is a lifelong resident of Myrtle Beach, Florida. He has been surfing since he is 7 years old. His father won several well-known surfing tournaments and taught him the art of surfing. Dean A. Esposito plans to continue surfing and participating in well-known tournaments.
