University of Houston-Downtown Appoints Bob Dean as Vice Chair of Insurance & Risk Management Program Advisory Board

Insurance and risk management education at the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) recently gained a powerful advocate. The university appointed Bob Dean, president and chief executive officer of Dean & Draper Insurance Agency, LP, to vice chair of the advisory board for UHD’s new Insurance and Risk Management program.

In this role, Dean will help ensure that program curriculum coordinates with industry needs and provide direction on career development tools for students. He’ll also help recruit qualified instructors and assist in fundraising activities. Previously, Dean served on the committee that developed the UHD program and the school’s Insurance and Risk Management Center.

“Bob’s passion for education, combined with his years of experience and knowledge make him ideally suited for this leadership role,” said Don Bates, dean of the UHD College of Business. “Houston is the third-largest insurance market in the U.S., and as such, is in great need of well-trained insurance practitioners. With Bob’s guidance, students of the program will be prepared to take on leadership roles in this thriving industry.”

UHD’s Insurance and Risk Management advisory board consists of leaders in the industry including agencies, carriers, risk managers, association, wholesalers and consultants. The board forms the bridge between the university and insurance professionals.
