Delkor Wins 2008 Sustainable Packaging Leadership Award From Packaging Association Of Canada

Delkor has received a Sustainable Packaging Leadership Award presented by the Packaging Association of Canada (PAC).

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) May 16, 2008 -- Delkor has received a Sustainable Packaging Leadership Award presented by the Packaging Association of Canada (PAC). Winners were announced on Earth Day, April 22nd at the Toronto Congress Centre in Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada during a Gala Event Celebration that was attended by four hundred packaging industry leaders, including Dale Andersen, President CEO, and Peter Fox, Director of Sales, Delkor Systems, Inc. of Circle Pines, MN.

The PAC joined forces with Wal-Mart Canada and Canadian Packaging magazine to acknowledge important contributions that have been made by leading packaging companies in support of the sustainable packaging movement in Canada.

Leadership awards were presented in several product categories; the Delkor "Spot-Pak®" Packaging System was honored with a Bronze Award in the 'Raw Material, Packaging Machinery, Ancillary Services - Process/Facility' category, one of five product categories evaluated in the competition.

A panel of judges, with diverse packaging industry backgrounds, selected the Delkor Spot-Pak Packaging System because of its proven ability to substantially reduce the volume of secondary packaging materials, thereby cutting material costs, reducing dry storage requirements, and lowering transportation costs throughout the supply chain. At the retail level, Spot-Pak reduces labor costs for in-store stocking, and minimizes back-of-store scrap disposal issues. The judging panel was also impressed by the potential for Spot-Pak materials to be converted from recyclable materials, which can be recycled again subsequent to use.

Nearly two hundred Spot-Pak Packaging Systems are in use throughout North America, most extensively within the dairy products packaging industry. On an annual basis, this innovative packaging solution reduces corrugated consumption and attendant costs on a significant scale. In addition to case-level material cost savings, the Spot-Pak package has eliminated approximately ten thousand semi-truck shipments of corrugated materials, plus another six thousand to eight thousand fewer truckload shipments of finished products, principally due to the Spot-Pak package's ability to increase cube utilization of pallet-size loads.

Within days of winning accolades from the Canadian Packaging Association, the Delkor Spot-Pak Packaging System was highlighted in the company's exhibit at the Wal-Mart Sustainable Packaging Expo in Rogers, Arkansas. A side-by-side graphic illustration described the Spot-Pak package's potential to reduce corrugated material costs up to 86% vs. standard RSC cartons for a particular packaging application.
