Prominent retail publication Retail TouchPoints recently awarded Procurator their 2012 Retail Customer Engagement Award in the Supply Chain Category. The Swedish retailer earned the award for leveraging an omni-channel forecasting, planning and replenishment solution to improve effectiveness in the supply chain and improve in-store experience for their consumers.

This year, Retail TouchPoints awarded 11 Customer Engagement Awards to companies that have implemented solutions and services that enhance shopper experience and the companies’ bottom line. The selection process was nomination based, and entries were evaluated on four criteria: unique shopping/promotional offerings, customer engagement strategies, customer analysis, and technology innovation. 2012 winners included Build-A-Bear, Chico’s, Guitar Center, Macy’s, Kobo, L’Occitane, Lenovo, Sports Authority, Specialty Fashion Group and others.

Challenged by a multi-channel environment, Procurator selected the CLARITY demand forecasting and replenishment solution from Blue Ridge to improve product availability in the stores and to increase inventory turns. The new solution replaced the forecasting and replenishment functions of the company’s ERP system. Procurator found the ERP system did not solve their unique retail needs and inefficiently managed inventory across the distribution centers and stores.

In the past two years, since implementing the Blue Ridge solution, Procurator improved product availability from 89 to 97 percent, while still reducing inventory levels by more than 20 percent and increasing inventory turns from 2.9 to 6.5. “The purchasers started to see results immediately," stated Anders Armandt, Purchasing Director at Procurator. Armandt continued, “We could work with a good forecast, we could see trends, and we could see where in the future there would be problems with a product and coordinate throughout the organization to avoid stockouts.”

Anders Armandt will receive the award from Retail TouchPoints at the NRF Big Show January 13 to 15. Anders will be taking limited appointments on Monday and Tuesday at Booth C226. To schedule, please contact Blue Ridge.
