"Our customers see significant payments while working with a leader in the industry with an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau," remarked Jeffrey Bonerb, ECS’ Senior Program Manager.

The nation’s leading demand response provider, Energy Curtailment Specialists, Inc. (ECS) has announced the expansion of their Demand Response business in California. As a result of a competitive bidding process conducted by Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), ECS was awarded a contract to expand customer participation in the PG&E service area by 60%. ECS has paid over $150 Million to participants in their award-winning PowerPay! program throughout the course of the past 12 years, and anticipates an allocation of an additional $40 Million to PowerPay! participants this coming year alone.

ECS has been a leader in the demand response industry since its inception in 2001. Since then, ECS has experienced considerable growth and now represents over 12,000 customers nationwide. PowerPay! participants are paid for agreeing to voluntarily reduce their electricity consumption for a short period of time during critical periods of demand. Participants are typically asked to decrease their electricity usage only when the electric grid is strained and in the need of help to avoid blackouts.

“It’s not surprising that the PowerPay! Program is such a success,” remarked Jeffrey Bonerb, ECS’ Senior Program Manager, “our customers see significant payments while working with a leader in the industry with an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. Over and above the attractive payments, many businesses are taking advantage of the PowerPay! Program because they are serious about reducing their carbon footprint and increasing grid stability within their community.”

ECS anticipates needing to limit the number of participants it adds to their program for 2013 and will treat interested participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested facilities in the PG&E area should contact ECS directly at 1-877-711-5453, or visit ECS’ website at http://www.ecsgrid.com.
