Gary Lozow, an attorney from the FGMC law firm, talks about the defense's potential strategy in the case surrounding the Colorado movie theater shooting.

It's an ominous task [defending the alleged shooter], and I think any lawyers should be applauded for taking it on.

Gary Lozow, a criminal defense attorney from the law offices of Foster, Graham, Milstein & Calisher, has made an appearance on NBC to talk about the recent shooting in a Colorado movie theater:

In this video, Lozow discusses the difficulties that the accused shooter’s defense attorney will face. At the very beginning, he makes a point to talk about how--no matter what the allegation--every person accused of a crime is entitled to competent defense in court. Lozow, therefore, applauds the defense attorney willing to take the job, given how difficult it would be to defend the alleged shooter against his charges. He goes on to discuss the insanity plea, saying that it is not the defense’s job to prove that their client is insane; it is the prosecution’s job to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he isn’t. According to Lozow, the prosecution can use nearly anything the defendant could possibly do--whether it be talking to an inmate or even simply sneezing at a certain time--against him, so his lawyers have probably warned him to be “inanimate”. Lastly, Lozow explains how he would have gone about talking to the defendant, had he been chosen to be his defense lawyer. He says that talking to the defendant, given his or her mental state, is not always useful in this sort of case. Lawyers, therefore, have to judge their clients’ mental acuity--and, thus, their usefulness to the case--during their first or first few conversations.

FGMC, Lozow’s firm, is a large, established law firm run by a former prosecutor. The firm takes only a small number of cases at a time so that the attorneys can give the largest amount of attention possible to each one. FGMC’s attorneys offer a large number of services, assisting in situations that range from criminal defense to land use and zoning cases to liquor licensing law. They even serve on occasion as car accident attorneys. They are centered in Colorado, with a reach that includes Denver, Boulder, Cherry Creek, Aurora, and more.

Foster, Graham, Milstein & Calisher is a client of Authentic Web, a search engine optimization company in Orlando, Florida. They are internet experts with a focus on business who build their web design strategies around trying to attract the sort of clients each individual business would most like to and best be able to serve.
