Townsend Leather Company has created a consumer goods brand, TL Townsend Leather, which is now actively selling hand-crafted leather handbags and donating a portion of the proceeds directly to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

TL Townsend Leather handbags are made in the USA by dedicated craftspeople, passionate about making exceptional, design-driven leathers and handbags. Each handbag starts with the finest leather in the world and each handbag is manufactured with great attention to detail. Townsend Leather is a 40 year-old, third generation family business, that creates and produces high-end leather in Johnstown, NY for a variety of markets and industries.

TL Townsend Leather collaborated with Terry Brindle, an inspirational woman of Gloversville, NY, to design a handbag collection named The Angel Collection. Terry was a breast cancer survivor who succumbed to ovarian cancer on September 30, 2009 after battling it for nearly six years. She designed this collection as a way to make people aware and supportive of cancer research. Terry participated in an ovarian cancer clinical trial at Memorial Sloan-Kettering in 2008. She was deeply impressed with the extraordinary technical expertise as well as the compassion of the people who work there. Twenty-Five dollars from the sale of each Angel Collection handbag will be donated directly to cancer research and clinical trial development at Memorial Sloan-Kettering. One hundred percent of the donation goes directly to research efforts.

Memorial Sloan-Kettering is the world’s oldest and largest private institution dedicated to prevention, patient care, and education in cancer. Its scientists and clinicians generate innovative approaches to better understand, diagnose, and treat cancer. Its specialists are leaders in biomedical research and in translating the latest research to advance the standard of care worldwide.

Terry’s Angel Collection symbolizes her ‘Celebrate Life’ angel artwork. Her angel, which she drew, sculpted, painted, and shared with those who touched her life during treatment, hangs from each bag on a decorative embossed leather tag. Terry’s life as a cancer survivor and patient was focused on helping those afflicted with cancer and raising money for research that will eventually eliminate this tragic disease. The Angel Collection consists of Terry’s two favorite styles, colors, and functions of handbags and is personalized with her own quote, “Supporting a future that holds no place for cancer” on the inside of each bag. The collection's Leah bag, was named in honor of Terry’s granddaughter, Leah, whom Terry hoped will grow up in a world that has eradicated cancer.

TL Townsend Leather has another designer handbag collection with items currently available for purchase, The Paradise Collection. This collection consists of three coordinating handbags, a classic hand-sewn patchwork with a modern twist, a vibrant, intensely hand-crafted TyDy design, and a line of harmonious solid colors. Twenty-Five dollars from the sale of each Paradise Collection handbag will be donated directly to advance cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering through the end of this year.

TL Townsend Leather encourages you to ‘Celebrate Life’ and “Support a future that holds no place for cancer” by purchasing beautiful designer leather handbags from The Angel Collection or The Paradise Collection. Or by involving yourself in any cause you are passionate about.
